The Luck of the Cranes

Sandhill Cranes, Lodi, Calif.

Sandhill Cranes, Lodi, Calif.

Every year has ups and downs,

rough days and smooth.

We find our courage,

look to the sky,

dream high,

and let the luck of the cranes sustain us.

Happy New Year!

  1. Nicely said. I’m currently in crane country (Rockport, TX) and can’t wait for the weather to clear so I can snap up dozens of photos of these amazing birds. Wishing you a very Happy New Year πŸ™‚

    • Oh boy, that must mean your are seeing whooping cranes! I avidly look forward to those upcoming photos! Many thanks for your support this past year, Ingrid, and I so look forward to vicariously enjoying another year of your RV adventures. πŸ˜€

    • Oh the sight of a flock of cranes flying by is so luscious, I’m glad I could share it here. And I’m delighted you enjoyed it, dear Doda. Thank you, Doda, for a wonderful year of warm responses and exchanges. πŸ˜€

    • Cranes are tricky to capture, for they are very skiddish, but this was a lucky day. Happy New Year to you, too, Cindy; and thank you for all your visits and comments in 2014. πŸ˜€

  2. Nice capture! My very best wishes for you, thank you for putting up with my comments and being so patient with me…But you know I love you! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Oh the thrill it has been for both Athena and I. You should see us, Nan, when we go to a new place — scrambling around in all sorts of precarious settings (busy traffic, heavy touristy street corners, back roads where we’re hopelessly lost) just to get a photo for the blog. It’s been great fun, and I really appreciate and enjoy that you have taken an interest in it. Thank you so much for your support this year. πŸ˜€ β™₯

    • Thanks so very much, Michael. I really appreciate your comments and support; as well as your blog full of incredible images and stories. I hope 2015 is a great year for you! πŸ˜€

    • We were standing on a levee and the cranes were coming in low. Birding at an annual favorite place called “Staten Island” (no joke) in the Sacramento River Delta, in California. I’m very happy you enjoyed the photo and message, BJ, and I wish you the best in the new year. πŸ˜€
