I never thought about an albino hawk before—is he a freak of nature, or an actual species? Your fellow looks like an owl.
I’m glad you enjoyed the post. The white hawk, or Pseudastur albicollis, is not an albino, it is simply a hawk of white color. You can read more about it from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_hawk
It’s amazing what can be learned blogging, Jet. Thank you for replying back to me. I’ll check out the link you provided. 🙂
He almost looks like an owl!
I found him mystical, and yes, similar to an owl. Thanks for stopping by Sue.
great picture– never knew whit hawks existed
I never did either, Bill. After this sighting, we saw this individual again, gliding above the river, hunting, oh about 200 feet above the water. This white hawk soaring through all green trees, awesome. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. 😀
Great photo! Perfect!
Thank you very much Timothy. Great to have you stop by. 🙂
Very beautiful… Happy firday and weekend ahead to you ⭐
Aquileana 😀
Thanks so much, Aquileana. It’s always a treat to have you visit. 😀
Amazing! I thought that the white birds belong to the northern locations.
Nothing in nature is predictable, which is what we like. Really great to hear from you Inese, thanks for stopping by. 😀
Wonderful looking creature
I think so too. There was something ethereal about him. Thanks for your comment Gill. 😀
very special! 🙂
What do you suppose he was thinking as he watched the two of you clambering on a tricky trail?
I imagine he was thinking about prey and not at all interested in us; which is oh-so-dull but true. 😀 lol. Really wonderful to hear from you, Nan; thank you so much. 😀
Wow…what an amazing bird!!
I’m glad you liked this awesome bird, Laura. I had never seen one before and had several delightful sightings that day of this individual. 🙂
O WOW! Amazing! ❤
Yes, he certainly held a presence in this forest. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo, Cindy. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 😀
I never saw one and it really is a good capture. Glad to see a bird I will never run across.
I know what you mean, Donna. I like to see birds and mammals that other people share from all different parts of the world that I will never reach. Thanks Donna!
Wonderful!
Thanks so much Elena, I’m glad you liked him. 😀
So beautiful 🙂
Yes, they are one of those creatures who cause you to gasp when you first set eyes on it. I’m glad you liked it, and appreciate your visit. 🙂
What a wonderful bird. I’d never heard if them. Just shows what can be learned from following blogs about unfamiliar places! RH [There are reports of a white mockingbird on Abaco, but that will be albino – or anyway leucistic]
An albino mockingbird sounds exciting — I hope you find it! Always a treat to hear from you RH — thank you. 😀
That a very cool looking bird.
Thanks Steve. Yes, we were very excited about seeing it. 🙂
