Giraffe Eyes are Always Watching

Giraffe and Zebra, Africa

Giraffe and Zebra, Africa

Wherever you go on the African savannah, the giraffe always knows where you are.  Giraffes have height to protect from predators.  Zebras often stand in pairs, each one facing the opposite direction so they, too, have better coverage.  I guess in this case, the giraffe let the solo zebra know w’sup.  Or maybe they both just knew our jeep full of admirers wasn’t a threat.

  1. Such a sweet post and a wondrous image, dear Jet ! Indeed, giraffe’s high figure looks like an observation post which covers a wide range of vision ! I’m certain sure that the adoable creatures could sense you were harmless visitors ! Have a brilliant day,my friend ! Love ♥ , Doda 🙂 xxx

    • Even when we thought we were being stealthy, the giraffe was always aware of us. I made it a game one day, always checking…and they never once were unaware of us. That’s what keeps them alive. So wonderful to hear from you, thanks so much Doda. You have a great week! 🙂

  2. Now that’s perspective! It looks like the zebra would have a limited view amongst the brush, but not the giraffe. Thanks for sharing. I would LOVE go go on an African safari. 🙂

    • I hope you do! Yes, giraffes have excellent perspective, and although they are not seen running all that much, when they do run it is one of the most breathtaking visuals I have ever seen. Perspective AND Grace…what a mammal. Many thanks for your comment, Jim. 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Ingrid. I like this photo because it demonstrates the difference in height of the two, and shows how towering the giraffe is. You’re right, they are two beautiful animals. 🙂
