Thornicroft giraffe, mother and calf, Zambia

Thornicroft giraffe is endemic to Zambia, Africa where only 1,500 individuals are left on this planet.  I think of this mother as a hero for she is perpetuating a declining species.  We viewed her from the safari vehicle and I thought she looked tolerant and patient…always a plus.

    • Giraffe babies are curious because they are so big, even at birth, that you don’t know if they’re really young unless you see them nursing, like this one. A delight to hear from you Doda! 🙂

      • Thank you Jet ! You are right;they are so big ! You have captured so many animals in the wild and beautiful birds !!! Being near nature, you can see how beautiful our planet is!
        Cheers, Doda 🙂 xoxoxo
